Very good! I'd like to get better at actually recognizing his musical motif B-A-C-H while listening to his music. I have his "art of the fugue" now, which gives me plenty of opportunities.
Bonus points = you get to beat me at a game of chess? ;)
There is a very interesting book called "Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid" that talks about Bach's penchant for inserting the B-A-C-H construct into his music. The book isn't what anyone would call a light read but the whole thing is pretty fascinating.
Ruth, here's an explanation of the Bach motif: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BACH_motif Also, if you're not familiar with reading the alto and tenor clefs, here's an explanation on those: http://www.musictheory.halifax.ns.ca/24clefs.html
Michael, thanks for the suggestion. I actually have that book and have read about half of it. Eventually, I got bored with the computer algorithm chapters, so I skipped ahead to read more about Bach and Escher. :) It is a fascinating book!
Yeah you know I never did actually finish the book either. I also found the algorithm stuff boring, but I guess I just assumed it was boring because I knew it already from classes. I suppose it simply is just really boring. Oh well, none the less it still looks good on the bookshelf :-)

If I'm not mistaken, that says Bach. The notes generated by reading the printed notehead on each of the staves in turn are his musical signature.
How many bonus points do I get?
ding ding ding!

I'm sorry, but I'm not getting how that says "Bach"? I haven't read music in a looong time, I am very rusty.
