Nerdiness: all the rage
You know you're a nerd (of the bio type) when...
- You have a discussion about whether "yargh" uses an r-selected or a k-selected life history strategy.
- You giggle with glee when a Simpsons episode pokes fun at the phrase "Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny."
- You joke that your lab studies the birds and the bees (and it actually does!)
- You fantasize about how different life might be if you were to get a publication in Nature or Science.
- You've had a weird desire to go skiing on a fitness landscape.
Any other ideas? :)

When vacationing in a different region of the country, after driving all night to get there, once the sun comes up the first thing you notice (and comment about) is the different ecosystem. Then all the other sleep-deprived people in the car proceed to throw things at you. ;-)
When you compare people's personalities to chemical reactions. For example, "He's like an ion with his electrons all in a tizzy."

When you and your friend have a conversation comparing your (biological) fitness.
When you compare losing weight as a function of a stack pointer either incrementing or decrementing a memory address. :)

You INNOCENTLY point out that flowers are plant genitalia.
When you know the impact factor of journals in your field by heart.
I did a screen capture of the phrase "Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" from the Simpsons and paste it in the dedication section of my thesis to my PhD supervisor. So I guess I am a nerd.
